The Texas State Railroad, is a railroad preservation effort and a class operation. It currently runs steam excursion trains daily over the 25 mile line between Palestine and Rusk in east Texas. Very scenic, nice grades, nice stack talk. The bad news: the Texas State Park system is woefully underfunded and TSR is one of the parks that they plan to ax. There are some options under consideration, but as of now no service is scheduled after August 31.
